View Full Version : SWF not working for me

Okay, I tried the cleanse once before, but only got through the 2nd day. That time, I did the whole SWF (2 tsp of sea salt). I never got the liquid elimination. Then life took over and my wife made me get off the diet.
I'm currently on day 3. This time I waited to do the SWF until this morning; I heard that it may not have worked before b/c I had solids in me still.
Well, I got down only about 25 oz. But no results. Nothing. It's been 2 hours, not even an inkling of results. I'm worried about what this may be doing to my blood pressure; that's a lot of salt water to be injesting.
Any ideas? Should I do a raw diet first or something?

Me too! Nothing. Did the tea last night, and the SWF this morning. Nothing.
I am usually really regular (3 times a day) so this is odd to me. Should we be worried about the salt intake?

You don't have to do a raw diet first and the SWF would still work with solids in you.
First, what kind of salt are you using? Are you sure it's UNiodized sea salt? Usually if it's uniodized, it'll specifically say it right on the container.
Second, have you tried varying the amounts of sea salt? Some people need a little extra. A lot of it has to do with what salt you're using. Some brands are finer than others. Also, are you drinking it cold? Try heating it up first to melt and disolve the salt good.
Third, you might not be drinking it fast enough. Most people get it down under 10 minutes. I take less than 2 minutes. A straw helps.
Are you doing the tea at night? Try steeping it longer.
I don't know about blood pressure, but yeah the salt just gets absorbed and you'll be retaining water. It's easy to lose though, just excercise or something to sweat it out and drink a lot of water to flush it out.

MC1/Day 1
Me Too! Did the entire 32 oz SWF this morning with uniodized light grey celtic sea salt and nothing! Not even a rumble. Its been 2 hours now since I finished it. I did get it all down in 10 minutes.
I hate to think I just drank up 32 oz of salt water to be absorbed into my system on the first day I have committed to really cleaning that same system out!
Hmmmmmmmm ..............

I am on my second day of the MC. I was not able to do the salt water cleanse this morning but I did it yesterday morning. I was skeptical about wether or not the drink would do any thing but I was shocked. I finished the drink in about 10-15 minutes and within about 1/2 and hour I had to go to the bathroom. It really did just flush me right out. I had no idea you could do such a thing. Within 1 hour or so after finishing my drink, it had done it's job. I'm hoping it will work as quickly tomorrow morning. The drink was not pleasant but it serves a good purpose. If it has not worked for you I would recommend checking the salt or making sure you are using luke-warm water.

I did it exactly as instructed, the tea at night, the 32 oz salt in the morning in 3 gulps to end up on the pot for about an hour.
Day 2 same situation same results.
No complaints here.

I also had no results the first time I did the SWF. But the 2nd time it worked great, so I've been doing it daily. The tea gives me cramps, so I only steep it for two minutes now to weaken it. THat helps.

Hi Investorguy, welcome to the cleanse and this BB. :)
Although the SWF usually works its magic, there are people and times when it takes two or even three days before it works. Burroughs says to try adjusting the amount of salt. I personally needed three days to get going this cleanse and then it's 3 teaspoons for me.
People who have been on aitkins diets with cheese, meat and no fresh vegetables are usually plugged up and need more than one day to flush. Believe me it does work when you get the salt proportion right.
To answer your concern, I know of no one who's had a problem with their blood pressure due to the SWF.

I am on day 8 and when I drank 10 oz glass of salt water(celtic sea salt) it did the job in about 45 minutes but the problem was it kept doing the job for another hour. So , make sure you have nothing else in your system and give yourself plenty of time before work(I was two late) But have felt good ever since. Also the urge to hurl will be less with each glass and daY.

My first post - yay!!
I too have been disappointed with the lack of elimination so far. I'm on Day 3 and haven't seemed to have the same results as other MCers. I think, though, I may have been drinking the SWF too slowly - over the course of 30-45 minutes. Whoops!
My pre-MC diet - lots of dairy, meat and sweets - probably hasn't helped.
Patience, right?

dear shinypenny! welcome http://fulcrum.physbio.mssm.edu/~sdy/images/girl.gif to the Cleanse!
I guess you've already seen Peter's post above... about varying the salt etc...:)
As for me, despite having been on the MC now 39 days-- I've managed to fail on the SWF so far 2 days-- including TODAY! In my case it was always that I delayed too long in starting it: Today I drove to work (1 hr +) instead of doing it first thing before getting dressed & ready... and THEN: took too long about it (ie didn't gulp it down as quickly as possible. Despite the fact that I am pretty comfortable overall with the whole thing-- in fact DELIGHTED with the SWF in general, and with the daily "eliminations"-- it is quite disconcerting to be walking around having imbibed a quart of salt water! It also gets confusing about whether to drink the lemonade or not... I still have not "eliminated" today! Oh well!
Since generally things are going ok, I'm not going to worry too much about it...
BEST TO YOU! hope things start moving ;)
