My wife and I are doing our first MC over the Xmas holiday.

End of Day 2, I woke up with horrible pain in my hamstrings. Continued through Day 3. Now into Day 4.

Can't sleep, can't sit, can't stand, can't even lay flat. Pain is intense and throbbing, like a muscle cramp or Charlie Horse.

What gives? I'm worried and thinking about stopping the MC.

Any advice?

Tony

so, has this happened before? sounds like a desperate need for a specific vitamin. If so, that vitamin was probably lacking before the cleanse. I speak not as an expert, just someone with bad muscle pain in my feet. It is an ongoing problem and am searching for remedies. I started taking extra potassium and a prenatle vitamin, but only helps a little.

I'm doing my first cleanse over a holiday vacation and am now on my fourth day. Last evening, leg discomfort hit me before going to bed. Like the "restless leg" syndrome I've heard about, my leg muscles just ached and I couldn't sleep. A hot shower which gave me relief until I finally fell asleep.

This morning I felt the same symptoms (though they don't sound nearly as bad as what you've going through!). The pain subsided after doing some leg stretches for *20 minutes. I drank plenty of water today and as of this evening the discomfort has almost gone away. It feels a lot like having growing pains as a kid. *:P

I've been taking it easy at the start of the MC but did lots of walking on days 3 & 4 (post-holiday shopping). Perhaps the muscle pain is from lactic acid -- the kind you experience after a heavy work-out -- and the MC makes you more sensitive to it.

I'm not a licensed health practitioner, but you may find that some leg stretching will help (but don't strain or over do it!). Google "stretches" + "legs" and you'll find some good sources. Before the MC, my diet was heathful so I don't think what my leg pain was due to vitamin deficiency.

Let us know how you're coming along!

I'm now on day 8 and the leg pain I experienced on days 3, 4 & 5 has gone away completely. I've been doing leg stretches each morning and afternoon.

From my experience so far, the results from the MC change daily. I feel progressively better but it seems you pass through several stages -- each day is like taking two steps forward and one step back.

Great I'm not the only person experiencing this pain in my legs! This is day three for me and the pain started yesterday in my lower back and seems to have settled in the back of my legs. Yes a restless nights sleep as well. Just came back from a walk, walking is fine it appears the inactivety is the problem. I have been taking calcium and magnessium for the past several months, which of course I have stopped for this cleanse. My partner who is also doing the fast, has no such symtoms. Everything else seems to be going well. Avoiding thinking about food at all with pretty good success.
My first morning of the salt water ugh! I'm not sure if I can handle that....

I also had severe leg pain and my mother told me to drink plain epson salt as she said it is a need for magnesium. I did take 1 teaspoon that night and one the next morning and that was the end of my leg pain. Hope that help.

Anyone try drinking MORE lemonades?

Usually leg cramps are a potassium deficiency. And you can get enough of that in the lemons and maple syrup.

I too did experience some leg pain on Day 2, specifically my left knee, hip flexor and even briefly in my toes. Pain also radiated on my chest and left arm. It, however, did go away and I've had some pain in these areas even before the cleanse, but very rare. Wondering if this is a sign of detox? or am I just extra sensitive since I notice, feel, everything even though I've got a clean bill of health, low blood pressure, great lab values ...etc..etc.
I've had a history of panic attacks following a 4-month trial of Accutane for my acne, but had to get off since it was blurring my vision and causing dehydration among other horrifying physical symptoms. My gut hasn't been the same since. So I'm hoping this cleanse will eliminate those toxins once and for all...tired of havng "rabbit terds" and having to depend on Laxative Tea every so often for elimination.
