I have just read SB's book and know someone who has done 12 days of the MC and done fabulously. I KNOW I need to do this for my health and for my weight.
For the last 7 years I have been on Zoloft for anxiety/depression disorder and am wary of trying anything that will bring me to a point of not coping (where I was before I got on medication). I read in one of the postings that one of the side effects that may occur during the cleanse is anxiety/worry. Is this typical? Should I even try this? I just want to be healthy.
I need encouragement.

Carrie: Hiya http://www.kurts-smilies.de/wink2.gif You can definitely detox "emotionally" on this cleanse. It didn't happen on my first four cleanses, but it sure kicked into gear on my 5th. I hated it but got through it. I'm generally a really happy person. I'm glad I decided to do the last cleanse for only 10 days, Yikes! ;)
If you plan on doing the cleanse prepare for it "mentally". Read the board and get an idea of what you're going to go through. Remember that everyone is different so although we go through similar things it could be different in an aspect or two for you. But we're all here to help you. The lemonade provides everything you need nutritionally for the cleanse. You couldn't live on it for years, but for 10-40 days (and longer for some :)) it's working really well.
Don't stop the anti-depressants without talking to your doctor...(my personal opinion would be to stay on them). You probably won't get a pink tongue. I won't either because currently I'm on thyroid meds but toying with the idea of getting off completely. But still, the benefits are ENORMOUS.
Let me know if you plan on taking the plunge. We'll all be here for you if you do. :)

Hey Carrie... WELCOME
Good post RES....nice to see you surfing again...
My partner is on prozac. The fast was not a problem and in fact it was very uplifting.
The medication was not stopped and everything went fine...
I think the larger problem was the coffee ....
Some people feel that they really need that nasty stuff...
But after four days of headaches I finally won and the coffee was history...
So give it a try but do not stop your anti - depressants...
Let us know how it goes..
Best of luck to you on your jorney

The best thing to do is to stop the antidepresants at some point.
Ask yourself this question. -
Do you really want to be a drug addict the rest of your life?
Just because someone wearing a cute medical shirt tells you to take that stuff, doesn't make it any less of a nasty drug.
Sorry to be a little harsh but its the absolute truth of it.
"The necessity of teaching mankind not to take drugs and medicines, is a duty incumbent upon all who know their uncertainty and injurious effects; and the time is not far distant when the drug system will be abandoned."

Glad I saw this post, I have wondered this as well. I take Lexapro 20mg daily. My thought was does the cleanse in a sense "cleanse" out the efficacy of the meds? Seeing as how it is detoxing our body and all. I would LOVE to be off meds but even when I miss a day or two I become a HORRIBLY MEAN person, to those around me as well as myself. I'll be making special note of my emotional self while going through the cleanse.

Hi Everyone,
Today is day 2 for me and my head is still pounding, I feel hungry but so far my moods have been okay. I have been on 150mg of Effexor for over 5 years, my doctor knows I am on the cleanse and she has cleard me for the 10 days only. I'm thinking of trying to come off of them after the cleanse. Has anyone had success with this?
Thanks!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! Due to certain circumstances, I no longer have my Zoloft. I was on 10mg a day so not a huge does, but I started this cleanse to help me rid my body of it faster!
I'm on Day 2 and so far so good! I have minor headache, but I'm thinking that's due to no coffee for 2 days. Everytime I turn my head I get a little 'zing' in my brain and this I'm thinking is due to no zoloft.
Is there anyone else out there who has come off antidepressants while doing the cleanse? What were your side effects?

Hi everyone:
I've been off my meds for over a year (longer than I was on them). My withdrawals were god awful, but, with the exception of my weight, my body has gone back to normal.
Has anyone had success losing their med weight with the master cleanse? I want to use this as a detox, and also as a reboot for my metabolism. All other diets, exercise plans, etc. have failed, and I'm getting desperate. The plan now is to do the MC and then go on raw food for an extended period, then add brown rice, lentils, quinoa and other things that need cooking, and later work up to lean animal protein, but keep off white flours, sugars, saturated fat, processed foods, etc.
Can anyone share an experience?

I'm new to the site, but am on 2nd Day of the Cleanse. I am also on psychiatric meds (due to Post Partum Depression). I wanted to use the cleanse to get rid of some of those toxins and the weight gain from the anti-depressants. I am also thinking of starting with raw veggies then possibly working my way back up to some organic lean meats. I'm thinking of using "The Raw Food Detox Diet" by Natalia Rose as a jumping off point after the cleanse. I would be interested in anyone's ideas, especially those who may have weaned off their antidepressants during or after the cleanse?!
Thanks.

I like that "jumping off point" after the cleanse. :) The cleanse is a beginning or a return (for those of us who do this regularly). You can detox the meds out of your system but honestly not with one cleanse. The cleanse goes deep and removes toxins in layers-ish. The cleanse can actually restore healthy blood flow. I know this by experience. If you continue with a "proccessed food free diet" you're on the road to optimal health. Steer clear of sugars and while flours etc. Stay as close to "what comes out of the ground" as possible. Keep us posted. :)

Res,
Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind. My detox symptoms are bad at the moment (sinus infection, hip and joint pain), so I probably will take the weaning slowly.

I appreciate the information in this thread - however, i notice that the dates are in 05 and 06. I'm wondering if there is anyone who can address the use of wellbutrin and the master cleanse? I start the cleanse in 3 days; and I'm not planning on going off my wellbutrin.
Also - I just began taking amoxocillan for a sinus infection. I do plan to go off that - even though I have only taken it 5 of the 10 days requested.
Any thoughts on either of these would be appreciated!

i wanted to bump this thread as i think it is an issue for alot of people :) i'm on citalopram/celexa, and also strattera for adhd, and continuing the meds this cleanse. just seems better that way :) instead of 2 strattera though I have only been taking 1 because they make me shaky and i normally need food w/them.

If someone is on antidepressant medication, that doesn't infer they are a "drug addict". If someone is living with asthma, diabetes, MS, cancer, HIV or any other possiblly life altering (dis)ease it would be grotesquely unfair to superimpose an only homeopathic approach and dismiss conventional medicine fully, against the wishes of the patient. Depression is a very real (dis)ease and while conventional medicine isn't a cure all, sometimes it can be a proverbial lifesaver. I personally don't want to be on meds for the rest of my life, and I'm ultimately looking to employ a holistic approach encompassing talk therapy, but the referral that my doc has sent off is taking ages, so for the here and now I continue taking my meds.
I am soon to embark upon my next cleanse but daren't abruptly stop taking my meds. While I have a profound substantial respect for the field of homeopathy, I have an equal respect for the conventional medical community as well, however, I won't accept everything as "gospel", instead I try to look at every point of view available and attempt to make an informed decision on that basis.

Hi there. It's been a while since I've been on here, but I think I really need to do another cleanse. I've been on Celexa (citalopram 20 mg) going on 7 months now and I've gained 20 pounds as well as had many issues involving hormones, sleep, and depression. I'd like to know if anyone has had success doing the cleanse as a way of getting off antidepressants and having an easier time with the withdrawl symptoms. Anyone?
I want to start the cleanse this week and start getting this horrible stuff out of my system.

Hi gillmoli,
Have you spoken to your doctor? I too am on citalopram and I was told firstly, not to come off of it without the advice of your doctor and secondly, the doctor will gradually reduce the dosage. I wouldn't recommend a cleanse as a "cold turkey" method of coming of antidepressants! I would think, after coming off of them (under the supervision of your doctor), a MC would help purge the "residue" out that little bit quicker..

A friend told me about the Lemonade Diet and I did a search online. My first time on this site two years ago... I read for hours and ordered the kit and book. Now Ive found all of my ingredients locally, but I still enjoy reading posts when Im cleansing.
5th cleanse on day 3 now...
