It's Day 7 and my throat has become sore. The cayenne pepper seems to be making it worse. Anyone else?

I also had a sore throat from about day 5 through day 7 and my stomach was upset during the same period. I may have been fighting off a cold but what I think was happening was that my nose was producing a lot of mucus and I had a post nasal drip that was giving me the sore throat and upsetting my stomach. I upped the amount of cayenne in my lemonade to 1/4 teaspoon or more. It made my nose run even more...I was blowing it constantly but I was able to work out whatever toxins were coming out that way and started feeling much better.
Good luck.

Hi Malcolm,
The original post was a month ago, but I'm glad to see that you posted here as well.
Every MC that I've done starts out with a sore throat and flu like symptoms so I'd say it's pretty normal. I expect it now and just go about my business. Sounds like you're doing the same. :) I'm really glad you dug in and upped the cayenne and didn't quit. This shows what you're made of. :)
I have a slogan, "I upped my cayenne. UP YOURS" ;)
Take care and keep us posted on how you're doing.

I just posted a help question for myself regarding a sore throat. This is my first MC and I'm on day 6. Starting yesterday my throat felt like it was closing up. I have had a pretty easy time up until then. Still today my throat is extremely sore(it feels all the way down my chest) The lemonade and pepper seems to make it worse. I think it is just toxins coming through the glands etc... but i'm not sure, I wish i could have advise from someone who went through this. What has my worried is that everything i've read says that your detox symptoms should disappear after your next mornings rinse cycle, but that didn't happen in my case. They say that if it dosn't go away to stop the cleanse. I don't want to. I want to stick out the 10days at least to see if I can help some of my fibromyalgia symptoms I have. ( I have joint pain due to a buildup of acid due to meat in my joints I have been told) I want to continue but don't want to do harm to my body if that's what I'm doing. Lois

I too had a serious sore throat for the last 5 days of the cleanse and for 4 days after - so bad I had to go to the doctor and get antibiotics - what a waste to detox for 10 days and then have to take that poison zithromax to kill the gland infection I had in my throat.
I tried to cleanse again about 2 months later and the sore throat formed then day I started to cleanse!!!! I stopped the cleanse on the 2 day in the evening nad my sore throat went away a few days after. Not sure what causes the sore throats... sucks cause I wan to go through a full cleanse and come out at the end with no symtoms of anything!

After using too much cayenne on day 6, I noticed not exactly a sore throat, but what felt like a small burning on the back left side of my throat everytime I drank lemonade or water, worse with lemonade though. It felt like I had burned off the lining of my esophagus with the cayenne pepper. It got worse on days 7 and 8, and so mid-way through day 8 I stopped drinking the lemonade. I am still doing the SWF in the am and the lax tea in the pm, and otherwise I am drinking strictly water for the remainder of this cleanse, at least till day 10, and maybe longer. I really think the cayenne pepper and lemon juice burnt a hole in my esophagus. What do you think about that?

I'm on day 8 and thinking I need to stop the cleanse. My sore throat has become EXTREMELY painful and I think I need to see a doctor. I can't swallow or talk. I've completely lost my voice which has never happened before. I'm coughing up green mucus and I think it's a sign of infection. I'm going to take it easy today and see if I get better tom. I can see down my throat in the mirror with a flashlight and it's bright red. I'm really rather irritated because I feel like the cleanse didn't work for me. Everyone on here talks about how day 8 has brought them clarity ect...and doing the cleanse was a great health benefit, but I'm on day 8 and I feel worse then when I started.

Yes, I also experienced a sore throat around day 4. I backed off the pepper and now just do a small dash and it has helped. I am now on day 7. Not sure how much longer I can hang.

I also experienced a sore throat on day 4, so I backed off the pepper a bit and just used a dash. On day 7 I am now feeling better, howver, I feel I am near the end of my cleanse as it is getting harder to resist real food. I may start to break the fast in a day or 2. Good Luck.

I broke the cleanse today. Really I just didn't care anymore. I'm now wondering if I had some sort of allergic reaction to the pepper? Or just got sick from the fast? I'm not a doctor so I'm not sure. My throat pain is getting better but my voice is completely gone-not raspy but gone. Frankly, I'm a little worried. I'm still coughing a lot and spitting up mucus, but no fever. Aside from the bumps on my face I have to say this was a horrible experience. I mean day 4 I felt like I had the flu, day 5 it got worse, day 6-7 my throat flared up and I lost my voice entirely. The fasting wasn't that difficult but with the throat pain I just couldn't take the pepper anymore.
I didn't break the fast properly and ate solid but soft foods today and I feel better. I just hope I get my voice back.
As for the detox, I don't think I will be trying this again...ever.
Good luck to everyone still toughing out the cleanse. I hope you have better results then I did.

Just a concern but has anyone noticed Peter doesn't seem to respond to posts such as this one? I mean there are morepsitive postings than negative but in browing I have found a few people who have seen to have gathered no benefit and gotten VERY sick from this cleanse so now I am worried. In this case I am VERY worried because I am a singer and for me to lose my voice would be awful.Peter please give me some reassurance before I start my cleanse!!!!

Hi! I'm new. This is my first cleanse. I'm on day 12 now. The problem I'm experiencing is that I am finding it difficult to swallow, and I think it's getting worse. The only thing that I did differently in the last couple of days, is that I started to feel guilty for not really getting much done in a day (I was resting/staying home alot for the first 10 days) so I made sure I got out and did some errands the last two days. Do you think they're related? Has anyone else had the "hurts to swallow" thing? What do I do?

I can tell if I'm using a little too much cayeanne pepper because my throat would start to feel sore. I'd use more pepper and drink more cold water in between lemonades, and it helps. Day2, my throat was so sore, I had a hard time swallowing fluids. I'm pretty sure it was the pepper. Oh, I also had a fever during day 2 and went away the next day. I believe it's my body trying to detoxify, and getting rid of all the junk
