View Full Version : Ever thought of a retreat?

I was wondering if there ever has been, or ever will be, a MC retreat. It would be great to spend the 10 days at a spa or hotel with a workout scheduled or weight room available, where you could swim or play tennis or walk, but only turreens of lemon drink and spring water and tea would be available. It would be neat to try!

I don't know.. If I were to go to some kind of retreat, I'd want to enjoy it and not suffer through detox symptoms and the SWFs. lol.

I just thought it might make things easier, and give a support environment. Like Richard Simmons has fat-loss cruises. There would be no temptation around, no family eating meatloaf or burgers. And the spa/hotel would make money from membership fees.

Well, there would have to be TONS of bathrooms around, don't you think? hee hee

I was actually online for hours searching for on. There are plenty of juice fast resorts or raw resorts but none for the MC that I could find. I felt like that would have been the only way I could do it cuz I strugled for a while in the city trying to fast. So much chaos, variety, ad memories.

Hi,

Jill (circle of light) and I were just talking last week about setting up a Master Cleanse retreat. We're thinking of possible locations: Mexico, Dominican Repulic, Italy, the Caribbean, California or Florida. If we went to Italy, it'd be for 3 weeks. The first week for sightseeing and eating and the second two weeks for the MC.

The cost for any of these would have to be in the $2000 range excluding transportation.

What do you think?

I think a retreat is a great idea, but Italy is way too expensive and over the top. Three weeks? I think most of us just need something a little more realistic like a 10-day retreat in a place that's warm and close to home, like Florida or Arizona.
Please consider organizing a retreat in the states, not halfway across the world.

Yes ten days locally is probably more realistic for most people. And why would a trip to Florida for ten days with no food cost 2000, not including transportation?? I believe you said "any of those" trips would cost that. Just curious.

I vote for California.

The weather is usually nice,
no hurricanes, lots of retreat possibilities,
lots of hiking trails, etc,
lots of stuff to do if people want to
extend their travel plans.

I think offering the retreat in sets
of 1 week at a time may work.

Some people can't leave for more
than a week, and for others who can,
they can purchase one, two or three
weeks. What ever they wish.

Great feedback! Thanks to all of you. :D

The figure of $2000 was for two weeks (day before the MC, 10 days on and 3 days to break it) in a foreign country and included lodging. Remember each person will need a bathroom every morning for couple of hours or so.

However, I can see that most people want only a week and to do it "at home" (in the US). Could someone amplify which of the 10 days plus 3 days for breaking the cleanse would be the seven for the retreat?

People in other locations haven't mentioned where they'd like to do the retreat. I'd love to hear that as I'd like to travel.

Speaking of foreign locations, I was just interviewed by phone by a reporter for the Times of London! :o So we'll have lots of English friends joining us in January I hope.

Hi Blue, I'm from the UK, which reminds me, Peter, do you know when the Times article will be out so I can grab a copy *;). It would be wonderful to have a load of Brits here for Jan *8)

I agree. It would be great to have more Brits on our BB. We've had a few book orders from there in the last week.

The article was held up for a few weeks, but it should be out in the next two weeks. The reporter was Bridget Harrison, who wrote Sex in the City for the London Times and was the real person the HBO series was based on here in the States.

By the way, I'm reading Winston Churchill's Early Years. I didn't know he won Nobel Prize for literature!

Peter:

you can count me in for the 2 week extravaganza. i will travel anywhere.

i don't like the idea of going for only a week, then leaving to finish at home.

good luck,

As a yoga, metaphysics and music student/teacher, I would relish the idea of "sharing" in a group context with those with enough discipline to endure a prolonged retreat the duration of a lunar cycle, That could potentially be transformational to a profound level.

Any location would work for me! I'm from the East Coast (Northeast), so I wouldn't mind going to Florida or to the West Coast. Outside of the U.S. sounds even better!

Would we have to be on the MC during the retreat?! Maybe it can be more a informative, networking and relaxing retreat...

Italy is a great idea.

I think you're always going to have people who would prefer one over the other for various reasons. Some can afford the time and money for Italy and others will prefer staying closer to home. I'm one of those that would absolutely go for Italy---I love travel and the sight-seeing would keep my mind off more difficult aspects of cleansing, should they arise.

Then again, I go for those Omega retreats in Costa Rica or those bike tours in Ireland. That's my personality. :)

I just got back from a retreat in Clearwater Beach, Florida where I did 10 days of MC. It was fantastic. (I'm back in Colorado now on my 11th day.)

The situation in Clearwater is a house right on the beach with room for 1 to 3 people for a cleanse, with regular yoga, meditation, musical fun, etc, and a resident cranial sacral therapist and Tibetan Buddhist practitioner.

I also happen to be a type 1 diabetic, so I cut down on the maple syrup (1.5 tablespoons per cup instead of 2).

I was just looking online for retreats!
I'm in!

A suggestion: Keep it in the states. The whole point of going to other countries is to experience the culture and a huge part of that experience is food.

I realize there are some people on here from other countries, but I would say setting up a retreat in your own country is ideal.

I know Arizona is known for their spas, although I would travel anywhere in the U.S. (I'm from Chicago.)

I LOVE the idea of a retreat...

I would be up for a week or even 10 days somewhere in the US and I would save all my lunch money for it.

You have my email address.... Let me know where and when and I will be there lemons in hand!!

I think a retreat is an excellent idea. :) I love to travel, but California would be fine as well. Since weaning off the fast is very important and I, myself, have more difficulty slowly easing in to the food when I finally get to eat again, I'd prefer (if it were only 1 week) to have the 7 days include the 3 days following MC. Then that would make it start on Day 7, I think? Honestly I think 2 weeks would be best to include the before, during and after MC.
I just think Follow-Up is very important and like any "diet" or regimin that goes well, it is usually more difficult to maintain what you achieved. I'd love to get more ideas on soups to make and salads, raw foods and serving sizes for proper follow-up just after the MC.

A retreat would be a treat! Detoxifying spa treatments, classes to keep our mind occuppied and our bodies moving. Really wonderful beds that beckon your weary body to Just Be. A team of mixologists to concoct tall lemonade elixers in fabulous glasses and serve them with style and celebration. Oh, and of course the luxurious private rooms where we spend our not-so- glamorous hours! Now that would be something to look forward to and plan for. YES!! GG

If it's for the full 10-day cleanse, with everything focused around support for getting everyone through the full regimen, I'll send my wife, for sure (I've just finished the cleanse but she doesn't feel she has the will power). California would be our vote as we live here.

Been thinking about how a retreat would work, however with all the bathroom time and people having varying stages/conditions, I'd rather see a retreat for follow-up.
I think that the cleanse itself is fairly easy as it is a simple combination with simple rules and at my second time on MC, it's pretty much like clockwork (Know what to expect and have little issues with it).
I find it, however, hard to follow-up just after ending MC. That is the hard part for me. It would be fun to be in an environment to help inspire and kickstart healthy eating from the get-go just after your body has eliminated significant toxins. It's unfortunately very easy to go back to old eating habits and even binge once off the MC.
