I've read the raw food faqs and no mention of fish in the raw diet. I absolutely love sashimi and true wasabi; do I have to give this up if I choose to go completely raw?

Completely raw means just that. So what if you do "mostly raw" with sushi thrown in? :) It's better if you allow yourself some "play" room rather than being so strict with yourself that you beat yourself up if you eat fish. Food should be nourishing but Fun too!

This may sound like a really silly question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway...Can someone please explain why raw fish doesnt count in the raw diet or maybe direct me to the appropriate literature. Thank you :)

When talking about a "Raw Food diet" it means raw fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds etc. So they don't mean raw meat or fish. It's the above but uncooked. :) Also think raw milk, cheese etc. It's nothing processed.

Carol Alt addresses this in her raw book (can't remember the title). she DOES eat raw fish & very rare meat.
i agree with Res -- who cares about the 'rules', adapt a lifestyle that will work for you.
Carol Alt's book, by the way, is fantastic!

Thank you so much for your responses. I am more worried about a diet that will accommodate for my cravings, (one of them being sashimi and wasabi), as wel as maintaining the figure I have now. I've read that some raw participants have continued to lose weight post-cleanse on a raw diet and not have to worry about what they eat. I soooo want that!!! I've found some fantastic raw recipes that I'll be incorporating into my diet, like the cucumber salad, which I had for my first real meal post-fast with sashimi and wasabi. For desert I had banana, dates celery and seseme seeds. So yummy! I've so much fun organising my dinners in the evening! I've found I'm not at all hungry during the day so I just make up the lemonade drink to keep my body fuelled, and lots of water. This experience has made me so much more aware of what my body needs and I'm so thankful for everyone's feedback on this site. Namaste - Vicki xox

for what it's worth -- sashimi & wasabi will be a part of my post-cleanse, mostly raw diet. it is what i crave & healthy (in my opinion). it certainly won't cause weight gain (again, in my opinion).
share that cucumber salad recipe!
i love seaweed salad & am going to try & make that homemade post-cleanse.

Hi kiropa,
Heres the link for that salad:

I used sunflower kernels and walnuts instead of peanuts, and omitted the chilli due to a clash between chilli and wasabi. Yummy!
