I am on day three of the cleanse and have been feeling just tired and had a headache...but this morning after the salt water I had a bowel movement with quite a bit of blood in it. Is this normal? Should I stop the cleanse and see a doctor??? Please help!

Definitely see a doctor....but most likely it's internal hemmoroids.
About how much blood are you seeing? Like, dripping?
Are you consuming anything other than the MC ingredients?
How much LAX tea are you drinking and how often?

Here is my rectal bleeding story to help others.
(***HINT: It all ends well—just learned some important things to pass on)
Last fall I experienced very heavy rectal bleeding while on the MC. It was pouring out. I have an external hemorrhoid I got after being pregnant with my son years ago, so I first thought it might be the source. However, the most I had ever experienced from it was just a light smear on the toilet paper once in a “Blue Moon.” It was clear that this blood was coming from inside of me though and the amount was huge. I got scared after I realized that it wasn’t stopping after several runs to the bathroom over 2 days and called my doctor. I admit I hesitated because I did not expect my gastroenterologist would know about the MC and might not be supportive. (Boy, was I right…he was very upset and worried! I have IBS and had an ulcer when I was younger, hence the need to have a gastroenterologist)
Because of the late hour, my doctor sent me to the emergency room. My hubby was having a fit while we waited. He kept telling me how I promised that the MC was safe and how I would be safe through my many journeys on it. (This was not my first MC) He felt that I had broken that promise. I did not believe that the MC was to blame. I was, however, scared that I had lost my most important support person. Although my main support came from my LEMONHEAD friends and this BB. I needed my hubby to stay supportive on the home front as well. At the hospital, he was threatening to throw all my lemons, maple syrup, cayenne, and sea salt away. YIKES! No need to quote the debate we were having at the time…just let your imagination fly.
At the hospital, they confirmed my bleeding was internal but did not know the source. I was too inflamed to perform a colonoscopy right away. My lab work showed my Potassium levels were too low. They added it to my I.V. to fix it ASAP. My fault---I was wrong. I stopped taking my high blood pressure med’s because I was feeling so good on the MC. Do NOT stop taking your med’s without your doctor’s consent. By the way, all the doctors and medical staff who saw me lectured me very harshly and thought I was off my rocker. They had no understanding of the benefits and healing one can obtain through cleansing. All they could focus on was how LONG I had been “fasting”, as they put it, and told me I was off my rocker. We all know how fruitless it is to try to get those who do not even embrace the thought of cleansing as healthy to understand what we are doing. Imagine the scenario with doctors who assume that what you are doing caused your “predicament.” A couple of days later, my gastro dr performed the colonoscopy and my internist ordered lab work to see if I had harmed any of my organs.
RESULTS: Lab results were all normal, no harm done to my organs. (Course not!) My Potassium levels went back to normal. The colonoscopy showed two things. One, I had two INTERNAL hemorrhoids that were the source of the bleeding. Two, I also had dark pigmentation on my colon walls. This is called “Melanosis Coli” if you want to look it up and see pictures. This was also my fault. It comes from abuse or overuse of laxatives. I had been taking the herbal laxative tea for 3-4 straight months! YIKES! No one ever said to do this. During those months, I was either on the MC or briefly off (like a week or so) in a modified way, but I continued to take the laxative, sometimes twice a day and doing the SWF daily. I know I know I was wrong. I know I got carried away. So you know, Melanosis is reversible and I did not suffer any harm. My dr’s were all relieved, although, they still think I was nuts. I did safely cleanse for 42, 20 and 10 days at a time. I did not stay off long enough between my cleanses and I did not stop taking the laxative. I learned my lesson.
LEARNING’S:
1. * * *Follow the MC instructions to the letter while cleansing! Peter keeps reminding us of this.
2. * * *Take your medicines as prescribed by your health care professional.
3. * * *Give your body sufficient rest periods before doing your next MC.
4. * * *STOP taking laxative when off MC!
5. * * *Take Probiotics after the MC period.
6. * * *Per my Natural Healing family, bleeding from the rectum is a form of cleansing too. So, it was not a bad thing after all for me. You must check with your dr to confirm it though since it can be signs of something else needing immediate attention. Burroughs’ book mentions that bleeding from rectum can occur due to lack of roughage in colon. This was my case and my dr even agreed with that. You must confirm it.
7. * * *I stopped using 1 tsp of cayenne and went back to 1/10 tsp per glass.
8. * * *You can become addicted to laxative if you abuse it.
I hope this is useful. I continue to do the MC (by the book) and continue to have great successes and good health with it. By the way, I do not have any more colon problems! *HURRAY! I wish you all the same.

wow Kira Moon: thanks for sharing your story! I have been wondering if i am overdoing the lax tea... I have only done it at night-- but I went for a long while on my first MC & now this "serial" 2nd & 3rd MC... but I think I'm ok... I like the alternative perspective on the bleeding too. Glad to see you holding to your own while the docs go nuts, and glad everything turned out ok.
I also understand about your husband's reaction. My boyfriend threatened to have an "intervention" during my first MC. I keep telling him there's a higher chance of dying of obesity.
I am feeling great right now on my MC2 & 3 and not having any probs yet, knock on wood...

Hello Sopheetsa,
You are welcome for the story. I think as long as you are on the MC you are fine with the lax tea. The toxins have to come out and we know that the lax tea and the SWF serve this purpose very well. I started using a new tea this time that tastes even better. It is Yogi Tea brand and called "Get Moving" or "Keep Moving" or "Stay Regular"...I think that is the name. Tastes better than "Smooth Move" to me. I really think my problem was staying on the lax tea for 4 months straight. You get addicted to it and cannot go without it. I (or my doc) had to ween me off it.
I am chuckling about your boyfriend and the threat of an "intervention" during your first MC. I like your response about a higher chance of dying of obesity! You are absolutely right about that! *My hubby threatened to call my doctors if I did not wait until he agreed I could go back on. I have been doing great *(on Day 37 on this MC) and he is supportive again. YIPPEE!
I am happy to hear you are feeling great on your latest MC too. HURRAY for you!
Happy Cleansing & cheers to more Lemons!
Peace & Love,
Kira Moon

dear Kira Moon:
Glad to hear you think it isn't a problem to do the tea as long as I'm on the cleanse. I have been worried about it....
I have that Yogi tea. That's Yogi Bajan (I can't spell) he was my previous yoga teacher's guru. I thought that was a good recommendation for it. But I like another one EVEN BETTER-- it is put out by High King (this is off the top of my head) and it has a really long name--something like: "Easy Going & Colon Cleanse". I ordered it from the health food store but it is taking them a month to get it. I really LOVE this tea-- and I think it is gentler... It has chinese herbs in it, and in fact it comes from China...
btw my bf really grumbled when i told him about the higher chance of dying of obesity... :)
hope all's well. you're still cleansing right?
i was worried about things-- but now I decided to enjoy the ride. things are still going well with me. hope that's true for you too.
the interesting challenge lies ahead-- AFTER THE CLEANSE.
hope you'll stick around to talk about that.

Hellooooo Sopheetsa!
So glad to hear you are doing well. I will look for the tea you mentioned, thank you!
Yeah, I can see where you bf would not be thrilled with your comparison. I hope he got passed all of that now. It can be very challenging to do the MC if your homefront is not supportive. I am so happy that my hubby came back around and is supportive. This is day 37 and he is ready for me to end and start eating with him. He keeps trying to tempt me. Geez! I did get him to agree to support me to the end though. Staying Strong!
I will definitely stick around for AFTER THE CLEANSE! You are so right, it is very important. You have to know what you are doing and get support to handle After the Cleanse successfully. I like Res's thread for AFTER THE CLEANSE on the Raw Food section. I look forward to chatting with you in the After the Cleanse stage too!
Hugs & Kisses!

Dear Kira Moon:
wow -- 37 days! very cool. My b.f. & I are BOTH looking forward to our next meal together. It isn't exactly like he's not supporting me... and he is thrilled w the way I'm looking-- (although he did say something about not getting "bony" :) )
best of luck w the rest of your cleanse-- and looking forward to seeing you "on the other side!"
my health food store just got the tea.

I am a little worried:confused:
I am a female newbie on the mc going into day 7. This morning when I woke I found myself bleeding from the anus and vaginal area. I am seriously considering stopping. I also had sharp pains on my side for the last three days. Any suggestions anyone?

I honestly don't think people are on this forum anymore. I posted something and it has never been addressed either. I've read that they say if symptoms don't pass by the next day to stop. Also, there is a lot of reading to do on this forum. I have been reading almost non-stop for two days and haven't read it all. But there is a part on vaginal bleeding in this forum. But there is nothing like peace of mind. If you stop, you can always start up again. Just go thru the end of cleanse process of introducing food into your system.
