A lesson on making smileys

on other forums I've been to clicking on the smileys above the text box yields happy face results. It seems like there is some sort of error on this forum which inhibits the little yellow balls of emotion to come out.

so until peter or another mod or admin fixes this problem here is a quick how to on 'making face'

(to make face, repeat the keystrokes without the space in between the characters)

well now I guess its time for our next tutorial: Advanced smilies 301; gifs and images.

this is for all of you who want to add images (pictures) of yourself or stuff you find off the net.

First off I should include a disclaimer:
images taken from the net are subject to copyright laws, the standard rule of thumb is to include an accredation to the website where the pic was found. I usually name the image with the website I found it from. What you do is your business... Dont say I never warned ya


OK! So you've surfed the net and stumbled across a picture you really like and want to share with the rest of the forum... I usually right click on the image, and click on the properties button from the pop up menu. You will now get a tab that shows you a bunch of info on the image. You now want to hilight the URL info or the Address it should look like this

hilight that line and right click on it, then click on copy from the menu that pops up.

Now back to the master cleanse forum; you're typing away and decide that picture you want should be inserted right here. You will need to type in the following WITH NO SPACES BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS

once again WITH NO SPACES BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS!!

;D sorry, ;D so to get the pic in the forum you need to type [ i m g ] right click right after your typing and click on paste, the Url or address line should appear then you will need to type [ / i m g ] got that? clear as mud? I'll show you how it looks like

Next up Advanced Smileys 302: image hosting

So you've made it this far, you are now able to post pics up with style. Now you want to show the forums who the L337 (Elite) forum poster is with a personal picture.

Now I'm assuming you have the technology and knowledge of putting pitures that you own onto your computer (I'm not going to get into this)

You will now need to set yourself up with an image hosting account. My personal favorite is photobucket.

its all completely free, sign up and login. hit the submit multipe pictures button and select how many pics you are going to add then hit the browse button and select the picture you want to add from your own harddrive or other location and repeat as necessary. click submit

you will now see a bunch of your favorite pics now displayed with 3 options, url tag and img. notice how the img line alread has the [ i m g ] included? ;D just hilight it right click and copy it to the forums here, since it already has the img included you don't have to type this in. voila Everyone in the forums can now see your pretty faces!

Tutorial 303:

smileys and gifs. Some sites out there don't appreciate you directly linking your image to their website. (all due to bandwith consumption and other techy stuff) this is especially true with my new favorite gifs (animated moving pictures) for sites like this you will need to download the gif or picture to your computer and upload it to your image hosting site like the photobucket account you created above. Then you can now put that onto the forums like this

alrighty then lets see you guys start making this forum a little more interesting with some pics and gifs.

how about "bolding" text? colors? For bolding, highlight the text to be bolded and click on the B at the second row, top left of the reply box. For colors, highlight the text and click on the underlined A after the font sizing dropdown at the top of the reply box. To do it manually:

For bold - [ B ] text [ /B ] You'll need to remove the spaces before and after the brackets.

For colors - [ COLOR="whatever color name" ] your text [ /COLOR ] Ditto with removing the spaces.
