Do certain blood types do better than others on this diet for real? Should certain types not do the raw diet???

Hi: I am considering starting a raw diet after I finish the Master Cleanse. I'm blood type A, which is supposed to follow a mostly vegetarian diet, with very little meat. I don't know all the blood type diets, but I know type O requires a lot of meat.

I've eaten for my blood type (B) for over 10 years now and done very well with it, so I'm also interested in this. I don't know that any type actually requires meat (and certainly it would never be store-bought full-of-junk meat in any case), but for my type and O it is definitely recommended.
I've been trying all-raw and I certainly feel good. Of course, one could technically eat meat jerky and (in my case) raw cheese and still be raw, so maybe that's what I'll do, too.
So for me, my approach is not that a particular food group is "required"; I use the blood type approach rather to avoid the foods which have lectins in them which can cause blood clumping and other problems.
But this new experiment of mine is still pretty new, so I don't have any real answers!

A girlfriend of mine, who is Type O, really wants to adopt a vegetarian life-style after she stops the MC. However, when she eats that way, she feels weak and tired at work. When she eats meat or cheese, she feels wonderful. Maybe "meat" wasn't the correct word to use in my post, but protein. Anyway, she doesn't want to adopt a raw food diet, just a vegetarian one. It's been years since I read the Eat Right For Your Type book, but I know my friend has read it. It's so confusing with all the information out there, to know exactly what to do! I'm just glad I'm a type A because it makes adopting the Raw Food Diet easier for me when I finish the MC (I'm on Day 3).

Yes, this kind of thing is easier for an A! :)
But often we can find a happy medium. I think it's good for everyone to experiment for themselves to find out what works best. Staying in touch with our bodies is paramount!

I have another concern about this cleanse. Being a Blood Type A, Chili Powder is my Avoid list. I wonder how much harm I'm doing my body while I'm doing this cleanse by taking the cayenne powder? Is it something I should be concerned about?

The Avoid characterization for red peppers for type A is a lectin one, so I do consider that the most serious category. At the same time, blood type theory is more about lifetime patterns than any particular meal or short-term period of use.
And you should not do the MC without the cayenne. You could do other juice cleanses, but if you want to do the MC, I'd just go ahead and do it with the cayenne, and then stop peppers afterward if you want to follow BTD guidelines.
Also, peppers are actually neutral for type A nonsecretors (roughly 20% of type As). So it may not even be a problem. If you get serious about BTD it would be very important to find out your secretor status anyway (and IMO it's even more important for an A than for anyone).
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your cleanse!

Thank you, I will have to try to find out about being a secreter. I am going to stay on the MC as written. I'm on day 6 today and feeling great, and definitely will stay on it through day 10. I am looking at Dr. Lorraine Day tapes I sent for and what she has to say has really convinced me to stay on the raw diet in the future. I don't know if I can do it 100%, but will definitely try to stick to it for the majority of my diet. I hope I can find some kind of group where I live that follows this too. Linda

I never, ever would have thought I'd want to eat raw (and even now I'm not fanatical and occasionally pop something into my mouth that isn't), but I've been amazed at how pleasant and satisfying it is. There's definitely a learning curve and it often takes some planning (unless, of course, you're willing to just chomp an apple or a banana and some nuts, which is certainly fast and easy), but it just feels so good!

This is interesting definitely something to look into, I am O+ that will give me something to read while doing the cleanse. Does anyone know if 'body types' have anything to do with it as well. thanks

Hi I'm 0+ and I have been a raw foodist since late 2004 but was more serious by 2005. I have been a vegetarian since 16 years of age.
Before I became a raw foodist I was diagnosed to be glycemic by my naturopath. He gave me the book Eat for your Blood type. Took it home, read it and shuddered at the vision of me having to consume meat even though many testimonials claimed they got better through it. I threw that book away the very same day and I looked into a colon cleansing retreat which was my introduction into raw foods. It made a lot more sense to me.
Like someone mentioned in one of the above posts, that person felt 'weak' upon consuming non-meat foods just because she/he is 0+. I would think that person, like me, was completely 'unclean' in the colon hence causing certain foods to not be 'correctly' absorbed. Doing the MC or any of colon cleanse would clear the gut of many years of encrusted dead materials. And that habours alot of unfriendly bacterial growth which is harmful to our health. Our colon, if not taken care of for regular cleansing, is a sewage system. I do not see why one would not clean out the colon when one would not hesitate and regularly clean out the sink kitchen pipe the moment it is clogged!!!

There's no blood type that requires meat. Humans were not meant to eat meat, and this is evident in the way that our molar teeth, our stomach's weak acid, and our long intestines are set up!
However, anyone who is accustomed to eating a lot of meat will probably feel some detox-resembling symptoms if the transition is made too rapidly.

I bought the Eat Right For Your Type book years ago & particularly remember that as a Type A+ that cayenne was a herb to avoid. But I've heard so many great things about cayenne and I actually think it's beneficial for me. I use it regularly now since I've been on the cleanse. Then again I also love crab and lobster and those are on my avoid list too...:D
Also, peppers are actually neutral for type A nonsecretors (roughly 20% of type As). I wonder if I'm part of that 20%.
